Hotel Velvet Plaza

The checkout left the worst impression. After checking out, I wanted to spend some time by the pool before leaving, but the receptionist said access would cost an extra 500 MXN. That felt unreasonable and unwelcoming after I’d just stayed there. Check-in itself was easy, but nobody explained breakfast or the hotel services. My room was clean, though it didn’t look like the photos on Booking.com, and the WiFi kept cutting out. An average stay with some clear things to improve.

We’ve always liked staying at Velvet Hotel in Guadalajara, usually one of our favorites, and the rooms were beautiful again this time. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and the shower had great pressure and perfectly hot water. We booked two rooms for a guest visiting the city for the first time, but only one was ready at 3:00 PM, so we waited another 30 minutes for the second. The pool is showing some wear, with a few loose tiles, and the water was quite cold. The steam room was nice, though it smelled a bit musty and could use eucalyptus or another fresh scent. We still enjoyed the stay and will likely come back. I hope they give a little attention to those details that make Velvet special.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the rooms are large and comfortable. There’s parking on site. A refrigerator in the room and a handheld shower wand would be the improvements I’d suggest.

The location was better than the service, though they did eventually accommodate my request for my son. Thank you for having a big heart and taking care of my family. We followed your rules, and we hope you improve client attention. The general attitude seems more geared toward one-time visitors or people choosing the hotel for its price. We’ll visit again.
