The location in the historic center is a plus, as are the building elevator and the full-length mirror in the room. But the hotel is extremely bare-bones and needs major renovations, so know what you're getting into. There was no safe, AC, fridge, or hair dryer. You could say I'm being too entitled or American, but on this trip we stayed at four other hotels in Jalisco/Guanajuato, and at minimum they had a safe, AC, and a hair dryer. We were there during the city's busiest time, Día de los Muertos, in room 307, one of the 'triple' rooms. It had a main bedroom with two beds and a separate room with a door and the other bed. I slept in the single-bed room, and it was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had, as hard as sleeping on a tile floor. The other beds weren't any better. The windows in this room don't lock. We were there in late October, and it was still quite hot, only cooling down late at night. We're from Arizona, by the way. We had to sleep with the windows open for any comfort, and then the loud festivities going into the wee hours made it even harder to sleep. I can and did come to terms with those things. The bathroom door, though, was the thing we hated most. It's slatted, so it might as well not be a door at all. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

The hotel is handy for getting around, right in the center and close to the sights. The stay itself had several problems: the Wi-Fi was nearly unusable, and the showerhead couldn't be positioned properly, spraying water everywhere. Adjusting the hot and cold taps only swung the water between scalding and cold. We had just two towels for two people, so I had to ask for one to put on the floor by the shower. In the evening, a car parked outside reception and played loud music; the bass could be felt in our third-floor room. Staff and the valet were right there, but didn't stop it. This isn't the four-star hotel it claims to be.

The room was a bit small, though the bed was large enough for our family. What really worked for us was the location, with easy access to all the spots in GTO, and the valet parking, which is a big plus for a central hotel. A very nice option for staying in Guanajuato. I strongly recommend it.

It was very expensive for what you get. The receptionist seemed not to care, there was loud music and lots of noise outside, and the windows were dirty. I also noticed exposed plugs that seemed dangerous, broken locks, and furniture that wasn't well maintained. The tourism office recommended the place, which made me wonder if they had a business arrangement together. There are plenty of better options, so look elsewhere.

The room had the basics, prices were reasonable, and the hotel is right in downtown Guanajuato. It was a nice place overall, but a little boy unlocked our door and came in while we were inside with the door locked. He didn't even knock, which felt pretty weird.
