Hotel Misión Guanajuato

The employees were excellent and always ready to help with anything. The hotel needs remodeling, and the breakfast buffet wasn’t great, with only chilaquiles and scrambled eggs.

The sewage smell was the worst part. There’s a treatment plant nearby, and when the wind blows toward the hotel, the odor is strong. I’ve stayed at plenty of resorts and hotels in Mexico, and this was easily my worst stay. We booked because most of the wedding guests were staying here. There are no ice machines, and though the front desk said we could get free ice at the restaurant, the first time they gave us some and the next day the restaurant worker was rude and said he could only give us a little.

The rooms were spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Getting to the front desk was a bit of a challenge since our group of 45 pilgrims arrived by bus. We had to walk from street parking to the entrance late at night, along a poorly lit path and a cobblestone walkway that was difficult for the elderly.

This hotel feels extremely dated, and it’s noisy and not very clean. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work, the elevators are broken, and the water pressure is terrible. The water was barely warm, too. I know it isn’t a five star place, but any hotel should provide decent accommodations for its price. This one should go out of business.
