Hotel Plaza las Quintas

The live music outside was extremely loud and went on until 1:00 am. I finally had to check out and moved to Hotel Premier, which was quieter, cheaper, cleaner, and had secure gated parking and friendly, professional staff. This place is dirty, dangerous, run-down, and way overpriced. There are lots of better options in Hermosillo.

The restaurant food was good and fairly priced, especially the 50-peso breakfast with coffee. It’s a comfortable place for an overnight stop when driving south on highway 15 through Hermosillo. My room had a connecting door to the room next door, so when the family arrived in the middle of the night, I could hear their conversation as if they were in my room. There’s also no wardrobe or place to hang clothes.

The heater never worked, and the manager handled the problems very poorly. We reported the lack of heat to reception an hour after arriving. We were told someone would come check it, but nobody did. When we followed up, they said there were no other rooms with a heater and offered extra blankets. After an 8-hour drive, we just wanted dinner and sleep, so we stayed after being told we could move rooms the next day. Room service was a mess too. I ordered a quesadilla, fries with cheese, and a coke. The woman taking the order thought I’d asked for ceviche. I repeated the three items, but the order still came with ceviche. She took it back without an issue, and I tipped her. Later the manager brought extra pillows, but the pillowcases were separate and I had to put them on myself. Then he called and said I needed to pay for the ceviche or he’d make the girl who took my order pay for it. Why put that on me after the order was already wrong and we had no working heater? It felt like a guilt trip, and I’ve never seen such poor customer service or such a bad attitude. I’ll ask for the GM in the morning and want this fixed. I’m really upset, and I feel the manager judged me because I’m white. It felt racially based. He didn’t even apologize. If someone higher up doesn’t resolve this, we won’t come back. We stay here at least 10 days a year whenever we’re in HMO, but this will be our last visit if it isn’t fixed in the morning.

The internet was just terrible, and parking was very limited. Even though I paid for a room, I was told to park out front instead of in the hotel lot. I also called because I needed to speak to someone staying in my room and asked if the hotel could transfer me. They said no, not at that hour. I paid for the room, so I should get to decide whether to answer or screen calls. I’m not a child whose parents control and monitor my calls. Also, I’d expect a coffee maker for the price, but the worst part was being charged $4 dollars for two 6oz coffees. I could keep listing problems, but I’d strongly recommend staying somewhere else.
