Hotel San Martin

We were happy staying here. It's quiet and well run, and even looks a little pretty with the plants and Virgin statue. The pool is clean and has a small slide, though all the shade makes the water really cold. The waiter at breakfast was excellent and kind, but the buffet itself was mediocre and overpriced. There's free coffee in the office, too. The gym was always out of order, which felt like false advertising. Hotel la finca is the best alternative in the same price range. It has a big, warm, cloudy pool and a fun party atmosphere, though it's loud. No gym there, but the restaurant is better and cheaper. The waiters are worse, and the beds are lousy.

For what it costs, it's an okay place. The room didn't seem clean, and after the nice smell when you first walk in, a weird odor develops. The shower head was gross, the bathroom doorknob came off, and the door didn't feel secure. We only got two towels, two soaps, and one shampoo for a two-bed room. The A/C was loud, and the people in the next room were noisy and drinking alcohol.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and I liked having salads on the menu. When you've been on the road all day, something light and healthy is just right. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly. It also felt safe. WiFi can be spotty when the hotel is busy, which I expect during peak holiday travel.

The shower had the best water pressure I've had in six months of traveling in MX. The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff were kind and really helpful.
