Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Nogales

The buffet was decent and the location is great, with a nice area nearby. But the rooms felt below par for the price. I stayed in two, and both bathroom faucets sat so far back that water pooled on the sink whenever we used them. Washing your hands was awkward, and the shower faucet wasn’t much better. The rooms also had so little sound privacy that we could hear other guests using their bathrooms. Our TV was hanging crooked. The front desk staff were helpful, but seemed swamped by the traffic, so we ended up waiting in line almost every time we needed something. Our sheets weren’t very clean either. In the morning, housekeeping knocked loudly and shrillly even though our do not disturb card was on the door, maybe with a metal key or something. It was annoying.

I paid $193 for a Monday night and had a terrible stay. I’d booked a suite but was given a standard king room instead. The AC never cooled the room, the floors were worn out and disgusting, there were no trash bags in the bins, and the remote didn’t work. The lobby was hot, smelled of cigarette smoke, and the table in the waiting area had cigarette burns. My wife and I waited close to 15 minutes before anyone at the desk helped us, and then nobody smiled or welcomed us. I felt like a nuisance. Breakfast was just as bad: only white bread, no bagels, English muffins, or croissants, and no sausages. They served bologna, chopped hot dogs, and fried tortilla chips. The coffee was weak and awful. I’d read the reviews before coming and can’t agree with the positive ones. For what I paid, I could have stayed at Westin La Paloma resort in Tucson. Fairfield by Marriott has a good reputation in the United States, and this place should be ashamed.

The room felt welcoming, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel is pretty close to the attractions. Check-in was quick and simple. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and helpful with information. A great experience.

The room itself was fine, but hallway noise carried right in. The food was horrible, which was a letdown since I used to stay here when the food was excellent.
