Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

The staff work hard and are consistently pleasant. Food was okay, with plenty of variety, and the à la carte restaurants take people first come, first served, with no reservations. Plan to get up by 6 a.m. if you want a pool or beach chair, although I did see security remove towels from chairs that people had claimed too early. The three big infinity pools were usually peaceful, with very little loud music. We preferred the warm, fairly calm water at the walkable beach. Bring a floatie if you like. There are also several viewpoints you can reach on foot outside the resort. It’s a beautiful place.

The beach is beautiful, the setting is quiet, and the customer service was outstanding. Still, many people in our group got very sick, and I blame the buffet’s food handling. There were no handwashing stations to speak of on the cook line. I’m glad there’s a doctor on site, but I felt doubted and told my sickness was unrelated to the food. He suggested I may have been stressed before the vacation, even though I had sudden diarrhea and vomiting after eating. Two days later, after spending $936 Canadian on a fistful of medication and two shots, I was starting to recover. I probably wouldn’t come back.

The beach, water, weather, and views were amazing, and the staff were polite and helpful. Check-in was easy, the preferred lounge was convenient, and its alcohol was great. We stayed Feb 7-14 2026 and paid for the preferred package on top of the regular all-in plan. I’d loved the resort when I visited about 10 years ago, but since Hyatt bought it, it feels like it’s gone downhill a lot. Food was just okay, maybe a 5 out of 10 at best. The shower never got hotter than lukewarm, morning or night, so I had to keep my hair off my body while washing. At events in the main plaza they kept asking us to buy an expensive bottle of wine to upgrade our seating, which made me wonder why we were paying more in the first place. Preferred members could only get towels at the preferred spot, and the lounge food was meh, though a couple desserts were good. The beach chairs were packed so tightly under the palapas that I broke my little toe getting out and catching it on a chair about two inches away. It’s not worth the price to me, and I won’t stay here again. The food used to be amazing, but it isn’t anymore. I’d rate the resort two stars.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, the pools were nice, and there were plenty of cold drinks. The staff were excellent, with several going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. As someone with celiac disease, I was especially glad they helped me figure out which foods were gluten free.
