Quinta Real Huatulco

We loved staying here. The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms and everything else were so clean. The beach was quiet and felt very private, with lots of chairs. We rented a car and explored quite a bit, though the restaurant meals we had were delicious. The staff were very friendly and the internet was great. We miss the walk down to the beach. Such a great trip, we'll be back!

The peaceful beach is easy to enjoy, and it's simple to get a palapa or cabana. The staff are kind and helpful, and the rooms have private plunge pools. With only 28 suites, the place feels charming and quiet. The shuttle to the beach or entrance is really helpful.

The grounds and pool at Quinta Real Huatulco are lovely, and the lush setting feels like a little paradise. Most staff were warm, and getting to feed the iguanas was a fun touch. It still felt like a five-star stay in many ways, but the property needs maintenance. Our upgraded private suite pool lost water every day, and the air conditioning could have been stronger for the climate. A few basics felt behind the times: a bedside lamp was missing at first, the desk had no outlets, and the cheap extension cord we were given after asking for a fix seemed out of place. We kept having to request things that should have been standard. The food was tasty, though it cost two to three times what we paid outside the hotel, which felt steep for Huatulco. Check-in staff were rigid when we asked for an hour of late checkout. They refused because the room was “assigned,” even though the hotel seemed mostly empty. A beautiful luxury setting, held back by upkeep, dated details, high food prices, and inflexible service. I’d put it around 8/10.

We spent a week here in late November and would happily come back. The place has an older feel, but I liked that about it. Staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel has that boutique, upscale atmosphere. Most days we had plenty of room around the pool, sometimes with nobody else there. The public beach is right beside it and was quiet too, with clean water that was nice to swim in and enough space for laps. We split our days between pool and beach, and drove into town easily for breakfast or dinner. The on-site restaurant served good food, but the prices felt unnecessarily high, so we went out to explore town. Poolside drinks and snacks were very nice. Our super king suite had a marvelous ocean view. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the pillows and bedding very good. Housekeeping came daily and did a spot-on job.
