Hotel Boutique Grandiosa

I arrived for my birthday feeling excited, but there was no mention that renovations were underway. Construction dust and debris had left the room dirty, and there was trash in the bathroom cabinets that staff tried to hide. I also found a half-eaten lollipop, which felt like a health concern. The water wasn’t running either. The staff denied there was a health hazard and refused both a refund and a room change. They were rude and unhelpful. I’d give zero stars if I could. Beware, I would never book here.

We’ve just checked out after six restful, comfortable nights. We paid a little extra for a balcony room, and it was worth it: there was lots of outdoor space for an evening drink, and we could hang wet clothes and towels outside. The bed was huge and comfortable, the AC and fan worked great, and the mini fridge was a nice bonus. The water dispenser downstairs saved us from buying lots of plastic bottles, so bring a refillable one. The family running the hotel were friendly and helpful throughout, and booked a taxi for us when we left. Our room was cleaned and fresh towels were provided every day. The location was fantastic for walking everywhere, with everything right nearby in the evenings. There are lots of mini supermarkets close by, a lovely coffee place across the road for mornings called CLNDSTNO, and a friendly salon where a pedicure cost 450 pesos. The shower was temperamental, and a safe would be a useful addition. Still, that’s perhaps to be expected on such a small island. Thanks for a lovely stay!

The rooms don’t have windows, which was fine for us since we weren’t planning to spend much time indoors. The staff were really nice and accommodating, and I’d definitely come back. The location is convenient, close to the beach, town center, and ferry. There’s a pharmacy right next door, an ATM across the street, a convenience store on the corner, and lots of coffee shops nearby. Just remember this is a sandy island, so some usual comforts may be different. In rainy season, the streets get flooded and muddy.

We were told before booking that the room had no windows, and that was fine since we spent most of our days out. The lighting inside was cozy and nice. The location made it easy to get to town, cafes, restaurants, and the beach, with great coffee just across the road at clandestino. The bed was really comfortable, everything was clean, and the wifi was the best we’ve had since arriving in Holbox. Staff were attentive and super friendly, and the place had a welcoming, homey feel. We had a lovely stay and would come back in a heartbeat.
