Hotel Luna Roja Holbox

The staff were really welcoming and even arranged an early check-in, which we appreciated. The room itself was fine, though it was missing basics like clothes hangers and a hand towel, and there was nowhere to hang bath towels. We were also unhappy with the setting: it’s away from downtown, but at the far end of a road with a lot of litter and decay. Ground-floor rooms were especially unpleasant because of construction right beside the building, with plenty of noise and no privacy. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Alberto and his team made this stay. They were relaxed, friendly, gave us useful advice, and took care of whatever we needed, which really added to the experience. The newly built property is in a quiet part of the island but still very close to the city center and its restaurants. The beds and rooms are simple, but thoughtfully arranged, and the materials seem good quality. We’ll definitely come back.

Amr was a huge help, spoke several languages, and went out of his way to book us a tour at a great rate. Thanks, Amr, for a great vacation. The hotel is in an amazing spot, the room was spacious and spotless, and the price was very economical.

The rooftop pool was murky and smelled bad, barely large enough for two people, and getting up the stairs to it felt dangerous. The hotel claimed to have a pool, but this was a pretty grim one. The surroundings were filthy with trash, and the location was beyond the edges of the youth hostel, in a place that felt completely uninhabitable. To reach the hotel I had to wade through knee-deep raw sewage. The manager joked about it, and I fell in it at least once. This was not funny. Most disgusting place in the galaxy. Do not ever stay here. You couldn’t pay me enough to return.
