Joanza by ÓOL Hotels

Getting around from here was easy, with the beach, market, and restaurants all a short walk away. The room was lovely and spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the pool was nice. Staff were friendly too. We also tried plenty of margaritas, and the bar's were the best. My one hesitation was the curtain used to separate the toilet. I wish they offered coffee in the room or lobby; finding any in town before 8 a.m. was tough. Thanks for a great stay.

There’s a lot this hotel still needs to sort out. It’s new and construction was ongoing, and our stay didn’t live up to the photos. I wouldn’t recommend it at this point. The lobby water dispenser went empty for entire days. The pool looked appealing, but was always full of debris, and the cushions had raccoon footprints on them. We found spiders and crickets in our room every night. That didn’t bother us, though some guests might not be okay with it. We heard loud music from a nearby bar until 1 a.m. every night. At checkout, staff wouldn’t let us leave 30 minutes late. That wasn’t a huge deal, but they could have handled it much more nicely. I’ve stayed in many hotels, and this one has a way to go.

The room was spacious and clean, and the pool was nice. Staff were nice too, and the location worked well.

The refusal to move us was especially hard to accept. They had roughly ten open rooms, some costing less than ours, but wouldn’t transfer us to the other side of the hotel. At 10 p.m., desperate to sleep, we even offered to take a refund and find another hotel. They turned that down too. The problem was constant loud noise from a house next door, so bad that we couldn’t sleep. We reported it to the concierge and manager, who brushed us off and said it “happens all the time.” Staff said they didn’t speak English, and made no effort to communicate with the neighbors or otherwise deal with the noise. Later, loud music went on until 4 a.m. There were raccoons walking around at night and drinking from the pool as well. The lack of care, flexibility, and basic service was shocking. This was one of my worst hotel stays. If you need rest and respectful treatment, I strongly suggest staying elsewhere.
