Casa del Jaguar Beach Hotel

We had a good time at this nice little place on Isla Mujeres and would recommend it. The rooms and hotel were clean, and the balcony had a lovely beach view. The beach was easy to reach, with soft sand and a gentle slope that was great for kids. The front desk and room service staff were really nice. Two things could be better: the small pond out front was a bit dirty and smelly, and although hotel guests get free access to the beach club, we felt treated like second class citizens there. We stayed two nights at Casa del Jaguar Hotel in mid-November.

It was quiet and relaxing, exactly what we were hoping for, and we’d happily stay again. The hotel has just 12 rooms and sits a few steps from a beautiful, well-kept beach. Loungers are reserved for you each day, and you can lounge by the pool with an ocean view or be in the water in a few steps. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and handled every request right away.

Sonny from Oceanvs took such good care of us by the beach. He was attentive the whole time and so kind and pleasant. The staff really notice all the little things, and their warmth made our stay even better. We loved the spacious, spotless rooms, which smelled lovely and felt comfortable. The beach is just steps away, with fun bars and great restaurants nearby. We spent most of our time in the water and on the sand, and the food and service there were superb. A lovely little find on this gorgeous island. We can't wait to come back.

The location made it easy to get around, and we even walked from the ferry with our luggage. It took about 20 minutes with big bags, but after six hours on a plane, the walk felt good. The hotel is small, so there aren't crowds, and getting back and forth to our things was easy. Check-in was simple, and the staff made us feel like the most important guests. The beach is beautiful, the water was wonderfully warm, and both the hotel and pool were clean. At 11 a.m. we could choose from several free beach beds, with umbrellas available too. I think there are about twice as many beach beds as rooms. I liked that the sister hotel across the street has mature trees and a shady pool in the afternoon. Next time I'd do mornings at casa del jaguar and spend afternoons relaxing over there. I was a little uneasy after reading some negative reviews, though I also remind myself that some reviews may be paid and meant to discredit places. I went in prepared for anything, and this is now my number one spot. Can't wait to return. My affordable stay included two free drink tickets, one spa service, and breakfast for two, though I don't know if that's standard. I can't recall the exact nightly price, but it was under $300, maybe under $250. The wristbands for keys were convenient too.
