We had a nice day out on the seafari trip, and the people working on it were nice. We spent some time following a whale and her calf, then swam with a group of mobulas. The trip was worth it. The office responded quickly, which was nice. I was quoted 420 USD, or 380 in cash, and was told the trip would run from 7:00 until around 15:00. We got back around 13:30 instead. We passed an island with sea lions and there were other people in the water, but nobody asked if we wanted to go in. I’ve seen sea lions before, so it wasn’t a must for me, but if I’d known we were heading back after that, I would have gone in. They didn’t ask if we wanted to swim or spend more time looking for other sea life, and there wasn’t much information about the animals. After booking and paying, I was also told up front that the recommendation was to tip the captain about 30-35 dollars. Even though it wasn’t mandatory, that made me uncomfortable, like I was expected to do it. I’m from Europe, where tipping isn’t very common. I usually tip something after a tour, sometimes more if the guide has done a great job, but 35 dollars feels like too much to me. I’d rather have that money included in the trip price so I know what I’m paying. A tip feels like a little extra to say thanks after a good time, and I felt uncomfortable leaving the boat.

The palapas were excellent, and the restaurant food was good with excellent service throughout. The scuba diving trip was awesome, with a dive master who really knew his stuff. I also had wingfoiling lessons, and those were really amazing.

I booked a fishing trip and couldn’t have asked for a better day. Tim takes great care of the guests and clearly enjoys what he does. The food is excellent too. I had wahoo a few days ago, and it was the best meal I had in town during my five-week visit. If you’re after an adventure, this team can hook you up.

Ask for Pachon! He’s a terrific guide and a really nice guy. I brought my eight-year-old daughter spearfishing and wanted something fairly tame, so they put together the perfect shore dive. Great experience.

We spent two weeks at Palapas Ventana and loved the whole stay. Our casita was comfortable, with a big terrace for drying our sports gear, and the beds were pleasantly firm. The cleaning staff came daily and were so nice. The food was amazing, both in taste and presentation. The area is quiet, with a great coffee shop down the street, and parking right next to the casita. Tim and his staff know their stuff and were helpful with any questions. We did a Cerralvo boat tour, whale watching, and snorkeling, all highly recommended. The beach is nice for kite and wing sports, though there are some reefs as you walk in. We drove to other spots to try them out, but could return to Palapas Ventana’s beach downwind, taking care around the reef.
