The view out back was amazing, and we never got tired of looking at it. The house itself was fabulous, clean, and well cared for. Staff were helpful too: we emailed the property manager with a question, and someone came by to check on it as soon as they opened the next day. The concierge also came through with lots of unexpected last minute requests. We had a great stay and would come back.

The travel arrangements made the trip easy: we exchanged pesos at our bank at home, booked a shuttle from Cancun airport to the ferry in advance, then took a short cab ride from the ferry to the house. A golf cart delivered there is the easiest way to get around the small island, and you don’t need a rental car. I’m writing this on our second day here in Sept. 2017. We come from South Florida about 2x a year, and this time the timing meant we escaped Irma hurricane in Fort Lauderdale. We first fell for the island years ago on a cruise and have stayed in plenty of different houses since. Now we call El Gran Escape our island home and have lost count of our stays. It’s well equipped, kept up well, and exactly as described on the website. Even with just two of us, the layout works well for multiple couples. Julie & Sue (owner & Manager) are a pleasure to deal with. The outdoor space is beautiful and spacious, but there’s no covered spot, so a rainy day can leave you indoors. Full days of tropical rain are far & few between, though. The heater tobthe spa isn’t working, and we trust they’ll fix it. Hope this helps. Enjoy the pics. It’s only allowing 1 file to large? Dunno? There’s lots of space in the house, and the ocean view is beautiful. I also liked the artwork on the walls. The hot tub wasn’t working, but I didn’t really miss it.

The rental has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, sits right on the Caribbean, and comes with an infinity pool. The sunrises are absolutely stunning.

We stayed there for a second time, and the place has fallen into bad disrepair. The pool was filthy when we arrived, with ants everywhere. We won’t be back.
