Na Balam Hotel

A good choice. The sister hotel, CASA JAGUAR, is across the street, with the beach club and breakfast. It's a nice location, just a few blocks from the nightlife street with restaurants, music, and artisans. You can walk to the ferry harbour in about 10 minutes. North beach is one of the best in the entire world, and Na Balam is right there. A good breakfast while watching the beautiful morning.

Coming back from dinner on the beach to a quiet, charming suite was just what we needed after a long travel day. Our kids were exhausted, and the stay felt stress free. I hadn't checked the room details carefully when I booked, so I didn't realize there were lots of stairs and that I needed an accessible room because I use a wheelchair. The front desk switched us to a much more accessible suite right away, and it was perfect for our one night. Every staff member we met was extremely helpful. There are lots of amenities we didn't get to try, and I'd suggest checking them out.

The location is top notch, with an easy entrance and nice beach beds. The room was comfortable, had a good view, and those outdoor chairs were great for relaxing. Sheets were always clean and there were no bed bugs. Room service was great, though the service otherwise was just alright. The almost nonexistent hot water really sucked.

The mosquitoes were the main problem for me. I killed at least five in the room and there were still more, so it was hard to enjoy the stay. I was only there for a night, and apart from that I did enjoy it. The beach was a one minute walk away, while the ferry station took about 12 minutes on foot. The hotel location is great, and I liked having two beds, a day bed and a nighttime bed. You can't smoke on the patio, you have to go outside the hotel. Breakfast was at a nearby ocean beach hotel rather than here, and the choices weren't great: one tea or American coffee, plus one fruit water.
