Villa Pajaros

Frank met me at the hotel right across from the ferry terminal and was very helpful. The apartments at Pajores are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen has the basics, though there's no bottle opener. There are plenty of towels. The water is tepid, at least not cold, which is better than some places I've stayed. The location is in the less salubrious middle of the island, away from both the posh, overcrowded centro/downtown north and the young boho south. It's quieter, which could suit you if that's what you want. I walked several miles each day to get anywhere, so I'd recommend having transport. Taxis cost 150 MxPesos to either the north or south, and aren't very easy to find. The island seems to be turning into an extension of Cancun. It has some lovely beaches, but most are crowded and everything is overpriced.

This was the best stay we've had in all the places we visited in Mexico. Everything was perfect: the location, apartment, outside area, pool, and owner. They gave us a golf cart discount, drove us to the marine for free, and bought us ashtrays. I highly recommend this place.

The apartment was a great base, with a clean, big comfortable bed, air conditioning, parking, a nice pool, and a kitchen that was otherwise really well equipped. There was coffee and water waiting, plus plenty of towels, including beach towels. Getting around was easy by taxi for 50 pesos or by hitchhiking. We picked up the keys at another hotel in town, and the host showed us to the apartment. We stayed four nights and would come back. A few kitchen things were missing: the coffee maker had coffee but no filters, and there was no corkscrew or bottle opener. The shower only got lukewarm, which seems normal for Mexico, but had plenty of water.

The suites were spotless, and the little pool and gardens were nicely looked after. We were glad to have the air conditioning. One unit had a shower and ceiling fan that weren't working, but fortunately the other suite we shared had enough room for all of us. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.
