Marina Villas - Grand Isla Navidad

We had to stay beyond our planned date and needed clean clothes, so we used the hotel’s laundry service. It took a very long time, and by checkout we gave up waiting, took what we had, and left. When I checked the laundry later, some of it belonged to someone else, and several of our very expensive clothes were missing.

The buffet was good for both dinner and breakfast, and the kids had fun on the two pool slides. We saw caution signs about jellyfish in the water, though we had no problems at the beach. The staff were outstanding and very accommodating, including for anyone in a wheelchair in your party. It’s a beautiful place, and I’d recommend it and come back.

The front desk staff were sweet and accommodating, and the rooms are spacious with lovely marina views. It must have felt very luxurious when it first opened. The grounds and property are stunning, but they badly need renovation, and the place is very large with a mass-produced feel. I tried the restaurant, room service, and cafe, and none of them was really to my taste.

It seems a shame that the residence beyond the hotel has been abandoned and left untended. The hotel itself was probably nice in its day, but it needs quite a few cosmetic upgrades. I understand it’s family owned, and that the founder passed it on to the children to run. From what I can see, they aren’t investing much in it.
