The pool is right outside the rooms, so you can't really open the curtains, and people talking there carry on all day. Inside, the room smelled of bug spray for days. It was dirty, with mold in the bathroom and grime on the shelves, and the bed was extremely hard with a cheap little foam pillow. The place is in poor repair and short on basics: when we arrived, we had to ask for towels and soap, and they said there was no shampoo or coffee. There weren't any cups or glasses either, though there's a water cooler by the front if you bring your own bottle. I had asked ahead about a refrigerator, but there wasn't one when we arrived. They cleaned one up and brought it to the room. A small coffee maker appeared after a day, but there was still no coffee, filter, or cup. The pool is small and shallow. I wouldn't stay here again.

The grounds are kept in immaculate shape, and the rooms were very clean. They're a little small if you're staying for a long time, but this worked well as a stopover while waiting to get into our usual lodging.

There are buses and taxis going by all the time, and the staff can call one for you. We took a cab they arranged to the airport. Someone is always at the desk, and the gate is locked in the evening for security, though staff are ready to let you in. Playa La Ropa is an easy walk away, and the beach is only a short stroll. The place is friendly and a good deal, with a community kitchen and a pool outside. Rooms were nice, though I wish the water pressure were stronger. You can also use the washer and dryer. Oxxo is right across the street, which I loved for picking up most things I needed. There are a few restaurants nearby, including Jungle Pizza, Adilitas next door, and Giovanni Italian, plus others.

The staff are friendly, and the pool is nice. It's comfortable enough and close to the beach. The downside is that it's become popular with Quebecois, who tend to gather together and make other guests, locals included, feel unwelcome.

The staff were kind and professional, and the owner keeps the landscaping in hand and the pool clean. JB Hotel is well placed for both restaurants and the beach. The property was clean, without bugs or dust.
