Pacifica Resort Ixtapa

It’s an RCI timeshare. Geronimo and Jose from the timeshare staff were friendly, professional, and respectful, which isn’t what I usually expect in this business.

I first visited in 1992 and have returned about 15 times since. The service has always been excellent, and I’ve never had a complaint. We’re going back with our four kids in about five weeks. We live in Switzerland now, but the long trip is worth it.

The views are beautiful, and I found the week relaxing. Most staff speak a little English, but knowing some Spanish helps too. You can reserve beach spots, though they’re usually taken by 8 a.m.; if you miss out, there isn’t really room to spread a towel on the sand. We had the all-inclusive package, and the billing process was confusing. Meals and drinks were covered, but we still got a check each time. The front desk said the 0.01 charges beside every item were for tracking. When we asked whether tips were included, they said to tip, but didn’t sound sure. At check-in, they also added two fees: taxes of about 3% and a “background worker” fee of 95 pesos a day. The package was convenient, but I’m not sure it’s worth it, and gratuities for the workers aren’t included.
