Sotavento Beach Resort

The food was excellent on both visits, but the drinks ruined things the second time. On February 18, 2024, we sat at the bar and had fantastic cocktails made by real bartenders, along with excellent fish tacos. Two days later, I came with four friends and we rented chairs for 700 pesos each, with money taken off the bill for food and drinks. The food was still exceptional, but service was uneven and the cocktails were watered down and undrinkable, especially at 150 pesos each. We ordered cocktails twice and they were awful both times. Management seemed to think we wouldn't notice. I don't blame the servers or other staff, but Sotavento scammed us and I have no reason to return.

The beds are the most comfortable ones on the beach, and the service and margaritas are excellent. Modelos come in bottles in a tin with ice. It's all the way at the end, so you have to make the walk. The music is great too. If that's not your thing, there are a hundred other beach clubs without it.

I used to really enjoy this place, but the food is only average at best now. Waiting and getting service takes forever. Management mostly sits at the bar and hardly interacts with customers.

One person in our group got much worse than an upset stomach after eating a tuna tostada with mayonnaise. It was probably left sitting in the kitchen's heat, since mayonnaise goes bad so quickly. Taking a couple of stars off for that.
