Villa Carolina Boutique Hotel

It’s an easy walk from Hotel Villa Carolina to the center of Playa la Ropa, and there’s a big taxi stand just around the corner for trips into central Zihuatanejo. With only seven rooms, the shared pool stayed uncrowded, and the adults-only rule kept things peaceful. Our master suite had a private plunge pool, and the room was huge, spotless, and stocked with useful things like a microwave, large fridge-freezer, and blender. A great choice for a romantic getaway in Zihua.

The location and view at Catalina are still premier, and the restaurant food and service are fair. But we’ve been coming regularly since our kids were toddlers, and now that they’re 13 and 14, we’ve watched the facilities age and deteriorate year after year. Prices have kept going up without any investment. It’s a shame, but we’ll look for somewhere better for future vacations. Adios Catalina 😢😢😢

The staff really went out of their way to make our daughter's birthday feel special. The rooms were impeccable and the service was top notch. This was every bit as amazing as our two earlier trips to Villa Carolina. We’ll be back again!

The owners are very accommodating, and the hotel is right by the beach with plenty of restaurants nearby. It’s one of the best boutique hotels we’ve stayed at. Book yourself a few nights or even a few weeks, you’ll be glad you did.
