Casa Velasco is clean, the rooms are spacious, and the staff are friendly. It’s also in an excellent location. But I can’t recommend the hotel because the noise was extreme. There’s a bar right next door playing loud music late into the night, and the thin walls let neighboring conversations come through clearly. I couldn’t sleep or get any rest during my stay.

The room and building were lovely, and the bed was comfortable. The noise was the problem: I could hear guests coughing and toilets flushing, plus music from the loud restaurant next door until 2 a.m. Bring earplugs.

It’s an old-style building with a small art gallery, and the location is handy, just three streets from the malecon. The room is tiny, though, with only a TV, bed, and two little drawers. I’d treat it as a place to sleep and nothing more.
