La Concha Beach Hotel

The rooms are really clean and roomy, and the staff are warm and helpful. It’s just beyond downtown, so even during carnival it stays fairly quiet. There’s free parking right out front. Great value, highly recommend.

The room felt like poor value for a solo traveler, especially at the high prices I saw around La Paz in early November. I expected more attentive service, a better location, and no leaks for that rate. Families might find the space a better fit, though I’d still hope for a dry room. There’s plenty to like: the room had a full kitchen, living room, balcony, and the amenities you’d expect. The pool was pleasant and looked well cared for, there was lots of parking, and the front desk staff spoke English very well. It’s quiet, but quite far from downtown. Unless you eat every meal at the attached restaurant, expect at least a 10-minute walk to the nearest local place to eat. My room also had a ceiling leak and a balcony that wasn’t well sealed. On my first night, a major storm came down from the Sierras and brought more than 10% of the yearly rainfall average in under 12 hours. Water got in through the roof and balcony door, and I used all the towels trying to keep the floors dry. I know storms happen, but it was disappointing at this nightly price. For a family looking for a quiet, spacious place with a nice pool area, it could be okay, provided the room doesn’t leak. As a solo guest wanting a simple hotel with nearby places for food and drinks, I wouldn’t choose it again.

We were sorry to leave. The pool was a lovely way to cool off after a hot day, and our room was spacious. The staff were friendly, too. The location gave us a nice balance, away from the busiest part of La Paz but still close to it. El Coromuel, the nearest beach, was about a 30-minute walk along the Malecon. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax.

The restaurant and bistro attached to the hotel served incredible food, and the service was very good. We really loved this location.
