Jack really looked after us, bringing towels to our room and pointing us toward good restaurants and places to catch the sunset. Ask him about the cactus trail. The volunteers were lovely too, shoutout to Omid, Loïs and Emma. We had a great stay and highly recommend ChangoMango. We'd only stopped in to see if there was a bed for the night, but Jack, the manager, greeted us and we knew right away we wanted to stay. The pods, toilets, and showers were clean and looked new. There’s a pool in the middle of the property, an outdoor bar and restaurant, plus a common TV room for a football game or a quiet movie night. Our second-floor pod looked out over a cactus field, and there was a terrace up there for coffee or a book. The pods are small, so the A/C cools them quickly. There was plenty of luggage space under the bed and tablets for keeping things during the stay. Each pod has an electronic lock with a code you choose at check-in, which meant no room key to carry around.

After kitesurfing, I could order a burger and beer, clean up, and find a juicy burger waiting at my favorite table by the time I was in my post-kiting clothes. Their kitchen does local favorites, coffee, smoothies, and excellent burgers. The bar and restaurant were a highlight. ChangoMango is a great little hotel across the street from Baja Joe's beach. It feels like more than a hostel, even though the shared bathrooms are gender-separated and very clean. The rooms are individual pods with a bed, outlets, and strong air conditioning you can control yourself. There’s also a pool, media room, and coworking space. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the crew were friendly. It felt like a home away from home, whether you're with a group, as a couple, or showing up alone to meet people.

Josie and Jack were incredible and went way beyond what we expected. We stayed in the house across the street, and every day after getting off the boat we'd hurry over to Chango Mango. I've been telling everyone how great they are, and my friends are so excited to come say hi. Thanks for making it feel like a home away from home!

The bar also serves coffee, and I got a delicious latte every morning. I don't drink, so I didn't try the bar drinks. It’s in a convenient, easy-to-reach spot, and there's a lovely little terrace for watching the sunset. The setup has a communal, hostel-like feel, though the suite itself is private. Our personal barrel suite had a bed, outlets, and an AC unit, and it was very comfortable. We faced the pool, which looked nice for the hot weather, though I didn't use it. We traveled in November and it was a bit chilly. Bathrooms are shared with other guests, with separate men's and women's sections and separate showers and toilets.

The Chango Burger was easily one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. We came to La Ventana with friends to wing foil, heard about Changomango, and stopped in for food. The owner and staff treated us like old friends. If you're in La Ventana or El Sargento, come by for delicious food, great people, and a wonderful location.
