Casa Tobala

The rooms were loud and dirty, and didn't look like the photos. I got sick after drinking the water from the machine they provided. The Wi-Fi didn't work properly. Don't go there.

We'd already paid in full and ended up here after being told our booking at another hotel was incorrect. Otherwise, we would've left as soon as we walked in. There were four or five men in the lobby watching loud TV, and that was just the start. Men smoked in the common areas and talked loudly all night. Cigarette butts and garbage were scattered around. I don't know if it's a halfway house or a refugee hotel, but the place felt like one giant ashtray. I'm a budget traveler and can put up with some inconvenience to save money, but this was disgusting, easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

The rate was reasonable and the value more than adequate. Our room faced a busy street, so we could hear some traffic noise. I liked the decor, with original art and well-chosen colors, and there was plenty of open patio space to relax. The floor was tile rather than filthy carpet and was mopped every day. There were lots of staff around, and they were accommodating.

The location was good and the people were nice, but there was no hot water for a shower. I'd also avoid taking the upgrade. We had to switch rooms because there were spots on the couch and walls, and the Wi-Fi didn't connect.
