The Landmark of Cozumel

We tried to be accommodating and ended up feeling completely let down. We’d paid in full for nine nights, but less than 24 hours before we arrived, the owner of 507 chose to let his daughter stay there. Landmark had another unit available, which I initially didn’t want to take. After talking it over with my husband, we agreed to switch only if the owner gave us three free nights on a future stay. He agreed and refunded us, then soon after, he stopped responding. His first offer had been to keep our $3600 and give us 14 days free at some point in the future. My gut said absolutely not, and I’m glad I listened. I believe he would have kept our money and then disappeared. Don’t rent from 507 Landmark. I’ll keep telling people what happened. We tried to work with him and got kicked in the face.

After two hurricanes, we weren’t sure what the Landmark would be like, but the staff were always around and attentive, and had cleared away all the debris. We were wowed by the place. Our room had all the amenities of a three-bedroom, four-bath condo, including a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The porch had lovely ocean views. After diving, we unwound by the pool and got good food at The Money Bar across the street. The Concierge was very helpful, and her English was strong. I can’t say enough good things. You can’t be disappointed.

Condo 401 has three bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a large kitchen, making it an ideal setup for a family vacation or a trip with three couples. The building looks like the best and most luxurious one in Cozumel. Right by the beautiful Caribbean, it’s hard to beat, truly the best Cozumel has to offer.

The snorkeling is great right across the quiet road. It’s good enough that snorkel tours stop there, and we saw a lionfish and a flounder at the same time. There’s a small spot for a hammock under the palms, or you can head to Money Bar Beach Club by the ocean access. We didn’t go in, but spent evenings on our MASSIVE condo patio drinking cervezas and listening to the live music. The complex also has a big pool, hot tub, and an outdoor shower for rinsing snorkel gear. Book a grill and the staff will preheat it for you. SWANK! Parking is behind a gate. There’s no beach, though, just a few other places to get into the ocean along the quiet road. It’s two small lanes and apparently one way. We learned that when the Policia stopped us, though the 'Don't Go This Way' sign was hidden behind foliage. The location is handy, a short drive from town and the Chedraui grocery store, and a pleasant drive to Punta Sur. Following the small Coast road, there are some decent-looking pocket beaches about 10 minutes along. HINT: You can find them on Google maps. Our condo (#303 on airbnb) faced the snorkeling area and Money Bar. It was insanely large, with a master suit that had a big jetted tub, shower, water closet, and a walk-in closet big enough to be another room. I assume the other units are just as nice. Highly recommend it, even with the kiddos along. I only gave it four stars because I’d rather have a beach to walk on than a road. It’s a posh complex with absolutely huge condos, close to ostentatious. It felt a little like somewhere your grandparents stayed, where children should be seen and not heard. I felt conspicuous going through the grand entry in a bathing suit with a towel and snorkel gear, though nobody yelled at me. Location, location, location.
