Chata Hosteria

We left early because cigarette smoke from the courtyard came through the screen doors with privacy louvers, the internet and water pressure were painfully slow, and the room was dark as a dungeon. The online photos and description were very misleading. We're trying to get our money back, but the hotel says Booking.com has it. Booking.com has ignored our complaints and refund requests, sending surveys instead, so I'll never use it again. If you rent from Hosteria Chata, go in knowing what you're actually getting.

After a day of travel, I arrived ready to drop my bag and shower, only to be told I couldn't stay. They said the owners' family was using the whole hostel, even though Chata had contacted me a couple of days earlier to say a room would be ready. I'd called to reserve a couple of weeks ahead and offered to pay in advance, but was told I could pay on arrival. They tried to help me find somewhere else, but couldn't, and the town was busy. After reading all the positive reviews, being turned away at the door was really disappointing. Maybe this isn't normal for them, but the service was very poor and I can't recommend the place.

The people were very friendly, and the place itself is beautiful and well cared for. I'd recommend it.

A clean, great place to sleep, cook, and shower, at a very fair price.
