The room felt too small for two, even with a double bed. Its only window faced the hallway, so people walking past could see in. Since that window was also the only way to ventilate the room, I kept it shut. The bathroom and toilet were cramped, with no fan, and the shower stayed humid. Staff didn’t speak English, but they did their best to help using Google Translate. It works as a practical place for business owners who just need a bed and a light breakfast to start the day.

The noise made it impossible to relax. I could hear everything through the thin walls, including loud sexual activity in nearby rooms all night, along with groups screaming and partying. The room was terribly humid and had visible mold on the walls and around the bathroom. Metal fixtures were badly corroded, and there was a strong sewage smell throughout. We felt uncomfortable and at risk of health problems. The conditions were far below basic health and safety standards, and the place felt more like a rundown roadside motel than proper accommodation.

The parking area is small, but guests parked thoughtfully so everyone could get out without trouble. The menu could use more choice, though. We had trouble with the TV and air conditioning, and the service staff fixed both while we were out after responding right away to our complaint. It’s close to downtown Mérida, which worked well for returning to rest after exploring the city and nearby area. The stay was worth it.

Breakfast was freshly made, and the service was great. The hotel is practical and close to the center, though not actually in it. The architecture has some flaws, as an architect I’d say.

The room was nice and clean, the hotel has free parking, and the location is pretty good. When we found that the window wouldn’t close, they promptly moved us to a bigger room, which was really nice. Still, too many little drawbacks for more than three stars: no hot shower water, hairdryer, fridge, or elevator, and the pool wasn’t very clean. The front desk staff don’t speak English.
