Hotel Jardín Mahahual

The price was great when we visited in February, roughly $400 USD for a week, and we'd love to stay again. We were glad we chose to stay in town rather than in the beachfront hotels and cabanas, though I hate calling a trip "authentic." Hotel Jardín is cozy, cute, and full of lush greenery. We loved seeing the starfruit tree and lizards outside in the mornings. Ernesto was a fun, kind, thoughtful host. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, plenty of outlets, and Wi-Fi if you need it. There's also a shared kitchen, and local food spots and corner stores are an easy walk away. The owner is really friendly and the service is good. A very good place to stay, in a good location.

The location is a big plus, just two blocks from the beach. The people at the hostel were kind and really helpful, with a map of places to visit and plenty of answers to our questions. The shared room was very simple, though clean, and had lots of outlets. I didn’t see the private rooms, but imagine they’re just as basic, clean, and pleasant. Good value for the money.

Ernesto was a wonderful host, and I enjoyed chatting with him about life in Mahahual. The room was spotless, nicely decorated, and had a very comfortable bed. Shops and the beach are two blocks away, and the ADO station is only 50 meters from the hotel. I couldn’t think of anything that needed improving.
