When you’re tired on the road, Hotel Maricarmen is a good place to stop for a room. It’s basic, but very clean. The A/C only runs during set hours. For security, the gate closes at 9 PM, but they’ll let you in whenever you arrive. I need to go back for photos.

There’s free Wi-Fi, and the pool and rooms are cleaned every day. You can find little local abarrotes, kiosko, and oxxo nearby for drinks and snacks, with lots of cenadurias about a block across the bridge from 8pm. La boquita beach is only a few minutes away by car. I paid $600MXN a night plus a $200MXN deposit for the key and remote controls. It’s a clean, cheap hotel, but the receptionist controls the air conditioning, which is only available from 8pm to 8am. The ceiling fan kept me cool during the day. The beds and pillows were a bit uncomfortable, and the clogged, rusty shower head made showering unpleasant, although there was plenty of hot water.
