Hotel De Cima

It’s handy if your main plan is to be at the beach, and there’s an underground walkway that takes you across to it. The hotel is far from everything else. Online bookings get a good rate, but otherwise they try to charge 1,700 pesos a night. There was also a lot of mold on our bathroom ceiling.

The hotel’s a little dated, but the affordable price makes up for that. The employees are friendly and sincere, and they’ll go out of their way if you need something. Our room was clean, and so were the lobby and entrance area. There’s a restaurant just across the street by the beach, and the hotel is just south of the Golden Zone. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The pool could’ve been cleaner, and it wasn’t clear where to rinse off after the beach because no water came out at the rinse area. They also wouldn’t let us bring a cooler, snacks, or other food into the hotel or room, so you had to buy something to take to the beach. I understand the COVID rules, but they should’ve hired more staff to manage people coming and going. Wet clothes from the pool or sand from the beach were also forbidden, which seems odd for a beach resort. The shower head had no water coming out until I worked on fixing it, and the temperature kept swinging from too hot to too cold instead of staying where I set it.

The location is the only thing that lets this hotel charge what it does. Put it anywhere else and it would go out of business very quickly.
