DoubleTree by Hilton Mazatlan

We got a nice oceanview room overlooking the beach and pool, and the price felt fair for what was included. The pool and facilities were clean and pleasant, and the hotel is right on the beach, close to some shops and restaurants with easy access. The breakfast buffet was clearly reheated food from the previous evening, which wasn’t what I expected at that price. The omelette station and fruit were fresh, though. Pool hours were a real drawback for me, closing at 8pm felt unreasonable. There’s also an undeveloped, trash-filled property next door, visible from our room. It wasn’t in the photos, but that was a minor issue.

The hotel staff helped make my time in Mazatlan great. Kimberly especially went out of her way to accommodate my needs. Another receptionist was really kind too, though I forgot to get her name. I’ll definitely stay here again when I return to Mazatlan.

I’ve been to the DoubleTree by Hilton at least four times, but this recent visit to welcome the new Year 2026 was disappointing. The hotel was full, and service quality had declined. With one of the three elevators out, it could take 15-20 minutes to reach or leave your floor, so many guests took the stairs. I asked staff about it, and they said they were waiting for a chip from China or Japan. That raises a concern for people with disabilities, especially since the pools aren’t accessible to them. There were loose tiles around the pools, ants on the breakfast room floor and tables, and floor outlets were tapped and caught on my shoes. Towels were missing from both the rooms and pool area. This expensive, high-end hotel isn’t meeting expectations right now. Think carefully before booking. Here are some pics.

The workers and service staff were always nice, but I can’t recommend staying here. The Wi-Fi was awful, and I barely got a signal from my room. I reported it, but they did very little to fix things. The sheets smelled like Cheetos, and the whole stay wasn’t great. I regret booking.
