El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel

Our first family vacation was disheartening. My family and I stayed for 6 days and 5 nights, and the experience was awful. As the only African American family there, we felt overlooked and got constant stares from both other guests and staff. Black people do exist in 2026, and we can pay for a “luxury” stay like any white person at the property. Mexico won’t see us again. I wouldn’t recommend El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel in Mazatlán Mexico to a minority. Traveling with a newly turned 2 year old is already a lot. We booked a king bed for that reason, but were given a two bed room with what was labeled a queen that was clearly full size, and felt completely unsafe for our toddler. They told us room selection wasn’t guaranteed. We had to keep asking customer service for help, and after being dismissed on the phone and in person, finally got a king bed the next day. We were also told it would cost 30$ USD PER sheet to have our sheets changed, something I’d never heard of in all my years. The food was awful and service was terrible. The three employees who made us feel seen were Paul (the server for the lunch shift), Enesto (Bellboy) and Onika (the receptionist).

Daniel has been an outstanding breakfast waiter for MANY years, and he was just as good this time. Nestor, our Bellboy, and Ernesto, the Lobby Bar attendant, also went out of their way to help with our luggage, check-in, and all our questions. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing them both again soon!

Andrea, our concierge, made the stay especially memorable. She was honest, warm, and helpful, answered all our questions, and went above and beyond to make things wonderful. The rest of the staff at El Cid Moro were kind and helpful too, and people around Mazatlan were genuinely kind. My husband and I had visited Mexico many times and been to several cities, but this was our first time in Mazatlan and our most memorable trip there. We already loved the El CID in Cancun, which is why we chose this resort. We hope to return soon and see Andrea and the other lovely staff again. Thank you for such a great experience! 🙂

Gerardo made the activities a lot of fun, and there were so many different ones to choose from. The service was great too. Coming here was the best experience of my life, and I highly recommend it!
