Camino Real Mérida

We liked the modern rooms, the rooftop pool, and the excellent breakfast. There are lots of shops nearby, and although the hotel is on the city's outskirts, getting to the center by car is easy. A few conveniences were missing: there was no coffee or tea in the room, the water bottles were tiny, and the bar and restaurant required immediate payment instead of letting us settle the bill later. Still, a very nice hotel.

It's a beautiful, spotless hotel with updated decor, and retail shops, banks, and restaurants are all an easy walk away. It has the touches of a five-star place, but the experience fell short for me. The staff handled their jobs well, though they seemed reserved and inhospitable, with too few smiles or friendly greetings. My laptop's VPN also meant I couldn't use the internet. The main thing missing was genuine hospitality.

I was there for five days on a work trip. The location was nice and the staff were friendly, but the lack of soundproofing was a real problem. The restaurant was loud too, which made breakfast uncomfortable. A shame for such a new hotel.

The room was roomy, with an okay WC and a cozy shower, and the hotel itself is modern and quite new. Staff were friendly, and room service was convenient. It's a little far from downtown and the main tourist sights. Restaurant service was very slow, especially at breakfast, and needs to improve. For what you get, though, the price is good.
