The room was lovely, the pool area quiet, and the restaurant team was genuinely welcoming. We were there for our babymoon while I was six months pregnant, so the stay was meant to be a special, restful break. The checkout bill left a very different impression. We paid about $50 extra on a little over $800 for two nights, nearly 10% above the Hotels.com booking price. The front desk manager said this came from the hotel's exchange rate on the booking date. When I later checked the historical rate for that date, the hotel's figure seemed roughly 5% higher in its favor. They also wouldn't let us pay the room portion in U.S. dollars to get the rate we'd been promised. Food and drinks were converted with the same unfavorable method, based on a rate from around two months earlier instead of one at payment time. Casa Loreto is charming and the restaurant staff were wonderful, but this billing experience was deeply disappointing for a hotel presenting itself as upscale, especially on our babymoon. Because of what felt like unethical billing, I wouldn't stay at Casa Loreto again and would suggest booking somewhere else.

You'll need a car or other transport to stay here, since it's a little off the beaten track, but you get plenty of space in return. The grounds are large, the lobby is beautiful, the rooms are huge, and it's wonderfully quiet. The staff are kind, and the pool is great. Poolside service was very nice when we asked, though it would've been great not to have to go find someone. And since drinks have to be ordered in the restaurant, a small lobby bar with cocktails and soft music for a few hours could make the architecture even nicer to enjoy. Still, a great pick for Merida.

It's an easy walk, about 20 minutes, to the Plaza Central. We had a great stay, with helpful front desk staff arranging taxis and tours and friendly servers in the restaurant. Our room came with a private courtyard and hammock, plus a comfortable bed, a big bathroom with a rainfall shower, and really good AC. Lovely boutique hotel, pool, service, and rooms.

The restaurant team was attentive, and the food was delicious. Staff throughout were professional and courteous. It's a clean, lovely hotel in a central spot for getting to different attractions.
