You’ve got the wrong location here. The place with the report about the tourist and the aggressive host is Casa Xaa, at Encino 47, Los Tamarindos, 70934 Brisas de Zicatela, Oax.

Apparently, disagreeing with the host can get you pinched in the face.

Though it’s a little tucked away, Hotel Casa Xa’a surprises you with its architecture and warm hospitality. It’s a boutique hotel and spa that works well for a weekend away from Puebla or Veracruz. The restaurant is good value, and they have some very nice red wines, which can be hard to find in “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns).

Cayetano Restaurant was a highlight for us. The food was very good, and they explained that breakfast is included on other days, but not Tuesdays when the restaurant is closed. We arrived Monday. Massages are available with a reservation, and reception sells beautiful handicrafts at reasonable prices. We bought bags, shawls, and some delicious coffee. The hotel is lovely inside and feels like being in the mountains, even though it’s in town. Getting there through the Bodega Aurrera parking lot is the odd part. The friendly young woman at reception showed us the room options, and we chose room 3. Every room looks out toward Cerro del Cabezón. Ours had two beds and no heating, but the blankets were very warm, so we stayed comfortable despite the December cold. It was cloudy and drizzling while we were there, but we still enjoyed our stay. Casa XA’A is a great option if you’re visiting Tlatlauquitepec.

We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels in Mexico and abroad, for work and holidays. This one stands out for its excellent service and amenities, and I’d highly recommend it.
