Hotel Del Peregrino

I’d come back to stay here if I return to Mérida. The hotel is near Plaza Grande and Parque Santa Ana, with restaurants and coffee shops close by, yet it sits on a very quiet street lined with beautifully restored homes. As a solo mature woman traveler, I found Fernando, Roberto and Jesús fantastic. They went out of their way to help with whatever I needed. The shared kitchen was useful for a longer visit, with a fridge, drinking water, ice, a microwave, and cooking and eating utensils. Wi-Fi was fast, the room had a hammock, and the air conditioning, hot water, and water pressure were all excellent.

Roberto, Fernando, and the rest of the staff were so friendly. Roberto gave my girlfriend and me lots of useful information that made the stay pleasant. We’d stay at Hotel Del Peregrino again next time we visit Merida. We spent twelve nights in a second-floor room, and it felt like a home away from home while we explored the city and nearby towns. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated, on a quiet street where we slept well. We could walk to several breakfast cafes and restaurants in minutes, and it was close to the old town. We felt safe walking back after the nighttime performances there. The central courtyard has a kitchen, and filtered water for guests was really convenient. Thank you so much! 😄

We ended up extending our stay from two nights to five. The hotel felt like a home away from home, with Hernando and Roberto both kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. The night staff were helpful too, though I didn’t learn their name. It’s a little away from the main tourist areas but still walkable, with plenty of good restaurants and great coffee places nearby. We first had a downstairs room that could be noisy, so we moved upstairs. The beds were very comfortable, and the showers had excellent hot water. There’s a kitchen for making coffee and storing food, plus bottled water.

A lovely place to stay while exploring stunning Merida. The building is cute, the street is quiet, and it’s close to the center. The staff were excellent and friendly. Highly recommend!
