Hotel Reforma

This very central hotel has clearly seen better days. There's free drinking water, and the staff were friendly. Wi-Fi struggled in our room but worked well elsewhere. The room wasn't clean at all, with hairs left in several places that should have been cleaned. There's even an envelope in each room for a tip for the cleaner. We switched rooms to get away from the very loud street noise. It was much quieter, though music still started somewhere at 7 am. The shower took ages to heat up and sometimes never did, while the fan and A/C worked well. The bed was beautifully large. The deep pool is a great bonus, though it was quite cold despite the heat.

The location is good, and some rooms are nicer than others, but the Wi-Fi doesn't work well. We first booked one night through booking and it was okay, nothing special. Since we knew we'd be back a day later, we made another reservation directly with them. They gave us a price and we paid on arrival, then asked for more money on the second day. In the end it cost more than the booking reservation, which didn't feel honest.

The beds were comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. It's in a great spot, a block from the main square, with free parking nearby. Breakfast was simple but nice. On arrival they first tried to put us in a room without windows, but when we said we wanted windows, they gave us one on the first floor. Unfortunately, street noise carried on all night.

The pool looks lovely, though the water was pretty cold. We also liked the colonial feel and being so close to the main square, and the price was great. Our room, with two double beds and three twin beds, was mostly comfortable. But street noise carried in at night, and light from the bathroom next door came through into our room whenever someone switched it on. That bathroom door really shouldn't have glass in it. If you sleep lightly, this might not work for you.
