Hotel Los Aluxes

The location is convenient, within walking distance of el centro. The food was adequate, and the staff responded when we needed them. The pool wasn’t available, though, and the place didn’t match its advertising. My room could’ve been better, with mold on the bathroom ceiling and a smelly AC unit that definitely needs cleaning. It was tolerable, but I might or might not come back.

The breakfast was a real disappointment, and the rooms didn’t look like the pictures on the website. I’d expected something different.

We booked six days expecting a good stay, but it went downhill fast. The room they first showed us had black mold all over the area above the shower. They moved us to a lower quality room, and each day felt less enjoyable. Service was poor, and the room service food was the worst I’ve tasted. They couldn’t even get a simple pizza right, it arrived cold and flavorless. Housekeeping came only three times during the six days. They never changed the sheets, even though it was 49°C and we were sweating a lot. The buffet was okay, I guess, but nowhere near worth the price. The hotel charges a lot while trying to seem high quality, and it just isn’t. Local businesses nearby also seemed to take advantage of tourists: they didn’t show prices and told you the cost based on how you were dressed. I’d never stay here again or recommend it. Travelers, beware.

I went to the hotel a week ago and was annoyed by how hot my room was. The air conditioning wouldn’t cool it down, and after arriving tired, I opened the door expecting a cool room but found it still hot. Merida’s weather is so humid. I went to reception to explain the problem, and the receptionist said they’d call an assistant to check.
