Hotel Santiago Trinidad

We spent three nights here. The pool was nice, and the room was comfortable enough, but very dark. The hotel is fine, nothing more. They should add furniture for putting things away, repair both broken towel bars, and do something about the wifi, which worked very, very, very, very poorly.

We arranged a trip to Uxmal at reception after being promised several stops and a guide. The schedule turned out to be too full, so some parts were skipped, and there was no guide. The rooms were also very different even though we booked two similar rooms with three double beds each. The ground-floor room was tiny, humid, windowless, and had mold on the walls; the upstairs one was larger. Overall, the hotel fell short of what we expected, with bad beds, weak wifi, and shower water that was hard to regulate.

This was our second place to stay in town. Sarah handled check-in and was lovely, accommodating, and full of helpful tips on things to do. The compound stayed peaceful, and our room had high ceilings and a clean, newly renovated bathroom. The only drawback was that the lights were too bright. We’d definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a superb location, and the staff were kind and nice. Still, we couldn’t stay in the room. It smelled damp, felt humid, needed a lot of maintenance, and the cleanliness was questionable. They refunded my money.
