Sara and Neil were wonderful hosts, sharing so much about Mérida as my wife and I explored the city with retirement in mind. They felt like old friends, and their advice helped us decide that Santiago should be at the top of our list for a permanent home. Centro is an easy, safe walk away, and we felt peaceful and secure returning from events at Plaza Grande at night. We stayed in The Capital at The Diplomat, and loved its airy indoor-outdoor feel and private layout. The design is beautiful, and the ensuite bathroom felt like a spacious spa. As vegetarians, we especially enjoyed the breakfasts, along with the fresh-squeezed and pressed juices. The margaritas were also a hit, even with my wife, who usually doesn’t like the taste of alcohol. For us, staying here was a great choice while scouting Mérida.

We spent four nights at The Diplomat with a big group ranging from a baby and toddler to teenagers, adults, and grandparents. Not one person had a complaint. Sara, Neil, and the staff looked after our family so well, and every detail felt carefully handled. The rooms were lovely and breakfast was out of this world. A wonderful boutique hotel in Santiago, Mérida. I’d hate for anyone visiting to miss a stay here.

We stayed for two weeks and had an amazing time. The breakfasts were fresh, beautifully made, and baked in house. The hotel itself is lovely, with excellent accommodations, an amazing host and hostess, and great staff. Thanks, Sara and Neil, for being so welcoming. I can’t recommend this little boutique hotel enough, it’s a must stay in Mérida.

Sara, her husband, and the staff helped us plan memorable trips in and beyond Mérida, and they were so kind throughout our stay. We loved the personal service and thoughtful touches. The vegetarian breakfasts were creative and delicious, a real highlight. The Diplomat Boutique Hotel felt like home, and we can’t wait to come back.

Sara and her staff can set up adventures for you with just a text, and they’re great at helping travelers make the most of their time. Breakfast is included each day, and the gourmet food was some of the best I’ve ever had. Stay at The Diplomat if you want to be looked after while exploring the Yucatán peninsula.
