The room was lovely, warm, and cozy, and we were glad we stayed at Casa Emilia for the night. The B&B itself is beautiful and peaceful, with great staff. Gabriela, Marcela, and a male employee whose name I didn’t get were all wonderful. Gabriela is a fantastic chef, and her delicious chilaquiles at breakfast were one of the best meals we had in Mexico City. We ended up here because the Airbnb we wanted was occupied that night. The one drawback was the bathroom privacy: a swinging glass door separates the toilet from the sink, and it’s only about three feet from the bed.

We loved every moment and only wish we could have stayed longer. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared, so it felt like home right away. The location was close to everything while still being peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast made by Juan was such a delicious treat. Gabby was attentive and accommodating too. When we mentioned our early flight, she arranged an earlier breakfast for us. We’d gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

The neighborhood was a real plus for us. Casa Emilia sits in the heart of Cuahtoemec, with plenty of restaurants and lively streets nearby, and we could walk to Juarez, La Condesa, Roma Norte and Centro. El Triciclo, the taco stand around the corner, is worth trying. We loved our room overlooking the main courtyard. It had a big window, a comfortable bed, and was functional and extremely clean. They clean the rooms daily. The people made the stay, too. Gaby welcomed us like family, explained the key things we needed to know, and kept checking that we were comfortable. Julio and the rest of the staff were warm and accommodating. Breakfast was a highlight: every morning brought three courses, fresh juice and coffee. Julio’s chiliquilles were especially good. We’d just come back from a week at Casa Emilia in CDMX, and had a great time.

The hotel is clean and looked after, and it’s an easy walk to a major boulevard. But comfort was an issue for me. There’s no air conditioning, and it was hard to get a quiet, restful night. The shower also had weak water pressure.

The main downside was the late night noise from other guests. A few groups rang the bell and talked loudly right outside our bedroom, waking us up and making it hard to fall back asleep. A French couple arrived close to 2am with a child and were especially loud, even after the host quietly asked them to lower their voices. The host was wonderful with us. We’d told him we’d arrive around 1:30am, and he met us kindly at the front door so we could come in quietly without ringing the bell or disturbing anyone. At check-in we realized my partner had left his phone in the Uber, and he was supportive and helpful. We also hadn’t eaten for about 12 hours, so I asked if there was somewhere nearby to get food. A little later he brought us two freshly made ham and cheese croissants. Such a thoughtful surprise at that hour, and they were delicious. The room and bathroom were comfortable and nicely presented. It’s a quiet, safe-feeling area, with good bars and restaurants close by. Breakfast each morning was lovely, with fresh fruit and eggs, and a nice way to start the day.
