At first we were happy with the apartment. It was spacious and very clean. Then strong waves of sewer gas started coming into the room. The fumes were overwhelming enough that we believe they were a health hazard. We ran water through all the traps overnight in case they were dry, which helped only briefly. The next morning we bought a candle, and that also seemed to help for a little while. We contacted the on-site porter, who checked the plumbing and sent a cleaning lady to flush out the traps, but nothing changed. We asked to move to another room, but he refused, saying they were fully booked, even though we could see an available room on a booking site. In the end, we booked another room ourselves and left.

The hosts were easy to reach and kindly let us check out an hour later because one of us was sick. The unit was clean, in great condition, and really comfortable. It’s in an ideal location and felt very safe. The downside is that being in the center made it really loud, so it was hard to sleep. Otherwise, it was a great time and a nice place to stay.
