Fiesta Americana Reforma

I would never stay at this overpriced hotel again. The windows at Fiesta Americana are only about two feet tall, which felt like a dangerous hazard for toddlers and their parents. The towels looked and felt about ten years old, the air conditioner was noisy, and they didn’t provide soap. More like minus three stars.

The location is great, with a walkable area and a Starbucks right out front. Rooms are a decent size and have desks, and ours had a mini fridge with a good variety. The beds were comfortable, with bedding that felt high end. During the day, though, the window made the room hot, and the AC settings needed attention. The tub and shower area was really narrow, and the glass doesn’t move. There was always a wait at the front desk in the lobby.

The mattress and pillows were the only good part, they were comfortable. The room looked old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Under the mattress sheet were stains, lots of feathers, and an unidentified deposit. After we complained, we were moved, then told to move again for maintenance, though nobody could explain why the second room needed work. We insisted on staying. The bathroom had no ventilation or suction, the hair dryer didn’t work, and the shower looked nasty. The fire alarm light blinked all night, the AC outlets were dirty, and it was noisy at night both inside and outside the hotel.

I picked this hotel because it was close to the starting line, and I’d asked for a quiet room since I was running a half marathon and had an early start. Nobody told me there’d be a party upstairs. The bass went on all night, and I got about three hours of sleep. I called the front desk, got a half-hearted apology and was told it would keep booming until 3AM. There was no real effort to help sort it out and no offer of compensation. They did eventually find me a room on a lower floor away from the noise, but only after I pushed, and the damage was done. I appreciate that they moved me, but the response felt sneaky, unclear, and like poor customer service. The hotel also needs a renovation and makeover, so it wasn’t worth the cost.
