Hotel Casa González

After staying here for about four years, I'm disappointed by how this visit went. On December 31, we were leaving the next day, and I paid for three rooms. My bank sent a payment confirmation, but the manager said the hotel hadn't received the money. I suggested we each check with our banks. Because of the coming holiday, the bank lines were down, and reviewing my statement was going to take longer. Later, around 8 pm, he spoke to me rudely and said I had to use a different card or go to a cashier myself to withdraw cash. He said it wasn't his fault and he didn't care, even though I'd shown him the bank confirmation and explained that I'd already paid. Going out for money at that hour on that day, with so many people partying in Mexico City streets, didn't feel safe. He kept waiting for payment and disrespectfully said he didn't care. I think manager Jorge Ortiz treated me worse than anyone I've dealt with. He doesn't know how to treat visitors, or women. In the end, we used another card to pay the outstanding 2,900 Mexican pesos. He made me feel terrible as a woman. If you stay here, bring different cards in case this happens, or you may leave with a bad impression of the impolite manager.

Casa Gonzalez was a lovely, atmospheric place for a good night's sleep, and we'd definitely stay here again if we return to Mexico City. It's a gorgeous, quiet property that feels like an oasis amid the bustle of cdmx. The rooms never got too hot or stuffy, even without A/C. Everything went smoothly. The staff were exceptionally clean, friendly, and attentive, and there's a charming restaurant on site. We arrived much too early for check-in, but they let us leave our bags and freshen up. Can't recommend it enough.

We had breakfast with guests from all over the world and really enjoyed the conversations. There are also plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries a short walk away. The many courtyards are beautiful, and the place is so cute. Our room was spacious and clean, with a nice view of one of the courtyards. The staff at this hidden gem were wonderful. We'll definitely stay again when we're in Mexico City.

The courtyard was beautiful and had such a lovely atmosphere, and the location was outstanding. My room felt a little old and smelled slightly damp, but it was very clean and well maintained. Excellent value for money.
