The supervisor was respectful and tried to address some of our concerns, which we appreciated. The reception staff, though, were unhelpful and unfriendly, and that set a bad tone for our stay at Hotel Dharma. Our room had no fan, microwave, or mini fridge. The cold water pressure was extremely low, oddly, and we had to wait a long time before we could use the washroom. After the warm hospitality we’d experienced at other hotels in Mexico, this stay fell short. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We stayed for 10 days, and the rooms were always fresh and clean when we got back, regardless of when we’d left. The staff were friendly too. There wasn’t much water pressure, and it’s supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, but people smoked anyway, and not just cigarettes. The beds were very firm, which my husband liked.

The room was clean, so that gets one star from me. The area felt really bad, and every local told us not to walk around, even in daytime, so we had to use Uber. The hotel rents rooms by the hour, and some of the other guests were strange, drunk, unfriendly Mexicans who were extremely loud. The hotel let it go. The walls were paper thin, so it felt like the party was happening in our room.

Mexico City was one of the worst experiences of my life, but this quaint little hotel was an exception. For some reason, I felt safe there. The language barrier made things difficult, though the kitchen staff were friendly and accommodating. The cook did her best to understand what I wanted and make me a good all-Canadian breakfast.

They offer very inexpensive accommodation without extras, and the place is well maintained. The location is nice and feels safe, and my room was clean.
