OYO Hotel Hidalgo

We asked to look at the rooms before checking in, and didn’t see any bugs. The place was clean and the location was great. Our only issue was a blocked drain that left ankle-deep water in the shower.

Good value, and there are lots of museums nearby.

I used to like this hotel for its prices, but under the new European management the rates have gone up and customer service has gone downhill. The carpets are dirty, the soap is cheap, and management comes across as arrogant. They make you leave your key at reception, which makes me uncomfortable when staff can access the rooms. They charge premium prices for a run-down, noisy hotel, and seem to take advantage because there aren’t many other options. There are lots of homeless people and protesters around, and the streets nearby are covered in dog mess. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Travelers, beware!

The location was okay, but the room photos in the promotion didn’t match what we found. I know it’s a budget place, but using fake pictures isn’t ethical. The accommodations were awful, with a serious bug problem, and they need to clean more often if they aren’t updating the place. I told the staff I needed to check out at 5 a.m. because I couldn’t stand the bugs. They said there was nothing they could do since it was too late, and weren’t helpful with the problem. This is the first bad review I’ve ever left. Don’t risk it, even if you’ve already checked in. Find somewhere else.
