Hotel Sonora

The location is good, and the rooms are pretty decent for the price, but housekeeping is really poor. The sheets are terrible and the pillows are useless. You're lucky if you get one old towel, and mine had another place's logo on it. It's noisy too, the sound carries so much you can hear everything. Bring earplugs.

The designer did a good job, but the painters and plumbers didn't. I asked for no service on Saturday because it was the Sabbath, but someone came knocking loudly anyway. I can only assume they wanted to visit. Other hotels know not to disturb guests on the Sabbath, especially when they've asked staff not to work for them that day. You can hear a lot of people having sex with their wives. There also seem to be wife rentals outside. If you just need somewhere to stay, this place is okay. It's clean, the cleaners do a good job, and it's a good deal, but it isn't a luxury resort.

The bed was clean and the area felt safe. It's a hotel under $20 right in the heart of the city, and for that price it's great. You can walk to downtown, and the subway is even closer. The hot water took a while to arrive, then got very hot. Handy if you need to take the subway to the bus stations or the airport.

Maybe consider it only as a last resort. The sheets are always dirty, the pillows aren't worth using, and they don't provide towels in the rooms.
