Volga, Member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts

We had a private terrace, and a second door let us step straight from the shower out onto it. The bathroom is separated from the bathroom, which was a great feature. The rooms are smaller than usual, but the space is put to good use. The restaurant and bar feel upscale and make for a great evening. Staff communicate very well in both Spanish and English. There's a reason this hotel was recommended!

The design is beautiful, but we didn't get a warm welcome and the rooms are small. At check-in we discovered the pool was closed, and the listening bar was also shut, even though it was advertised as open on Wednesdays. They then tried to add a “resort fee” to our prepaid world of Hyatt reservation and couldn't explain what it covered. We had to push back to avoid the extra charge.

The hotel felt like a peaceful oasis in the middle of a huge, lively city. Often it seemed as if we had the place to ourselves, and we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable, despite noticing security cameras around the property. We stayed five nights in April and really enjoyed it. The hotel has distinctive architecture, a lovely layout, and a great location. Our Junior Suite had a private inner terrace, and the beds and sheets were very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day. Having the shower and toilet in a separate area from the sinks and tub made the setup practical and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The room included four cooked-to-order options, plus yogurt, granola, fruit, juice, and pastries. Bottled water was always available in the room, gym, and other parts of the hotel. The bar and lounge were lovely too. We booked through Hyatt and could earn member points; I believe Preferred Hotels & Resorts is another booking option. The property also has ELORA restaurant, an outdoor pool, rooftop bar, and gym. Staff were there whenever we needed them, while the atmosphere stayed private and relaxing. Thanks for such a great stay.

The architecture is beautiful, and the location makes it easy to reach several parts of the city. Still, this felt more like a 3 star hotel to me than a 5 star one. We paid $400 for a king room but ended up with a Queen bed, after a long wait and speaking with several people to get an answer. Breakfast was included, but it wasn't very good and service was slow. Our room was on the 2nd floor, close enough to the nightclub that the noise came through and kept us awake late. The hotel is fine, but at this price I think you'd be better off elsewhere.
