Holt Hotel De Mi Independencia

I happened to be there during Mexican Independence Day, and the hotel is wonderfully close to the heart of town, with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. The design is impeccable, full of little touches, and the staff were very nice. Breakfast was great and tasty each morning. My friend and I were on a trip with several stops and booked separate rooms. The hotel seemed especially suited to couples.

The hotel has six cute rooms, all facing inward, and the room was quieter than I expected for a central spot in a nice neighbourhood. Ours was next to a loud water heater, though. Wifi, air conditioning, and breakfast were excellent. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side. The site felt secure, with night door staff and locked luggage storage for arrival and departure days. There wasn't service staff later in the day, which could be frustrating when we wanted recommendations or room service, though they responded quickly online. It seemed a bit overpriced for what we got, but we were there in the lead up to Dia de los Muertos. For the price, I'd give it 4/5.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, and all the staff were lovely. It's a beautiful place in a great location. We'll definitely be back!

We spent six nights here for a wedding and had an incredible stay. It's a perfect spot for couples, with a courtyard full of color and charm that feels like a little oasis. We felt completely safe exploring both day and night. The food stands along the way are worth a look, especially the corn on the cob and juicy street burgers. The location is fantastic, with everything within walking distance: about 10 minutes to the Zócalo, Santo Domingo Temple, museums, and local markets. There's a good restaurant next door, a bodega across the street where I picked up snacks, a shaver, and water, and a bakery in the same building. Breakfast is served each morning from 8:30 to 10:30 am, with a changing selection of fresh fruit, toast, cereal, eggs, traditional Oaxacan dishes, aguas frescas, and more. It was a lovely way to start the day. The staff were genuinely kind and accommodating. Special thanks to Lilliana, who arranged a taxi for us at 3 a.m. so we could catch our early flight without any trouble. We're already looking forward to coming back.
